Briar Cliff University Admissions Overview:

Briar Cliff has open admissions, meaning that any qualified student who meets minimum requirements should be able to attend. Scores from the SAT or ACT are a required part of the application. Generally, students must have a high school GPA of 2.0 to be considered for admission, although the great majority of students have grades in the "A" or "B" range and SAT or ACT scores that are average or better. Students must also send in high school transcripts, and are encouraged to visit the campus and meet with an admissions counselor. Applicants can use either the online Briar Cliff application or the free Cappex Application.

Briar Cliff University is a private Catholic university located on the outskirts of Sioux City, Iowa. Established in 1930 as a small two-year college for women, the university is now a coeducational baccalaureate institution with over 1,100 students. Students can choose from 40 academic programs; business, health, and education fields are among the most popular. The curriculum has a liberal arts core and also emphasizes hands-on learning and career preparation. Students have many internship, fieldwork and research opportunities. Academics at Briar Cliff are supported by a 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 19. The university takes pride in the individualized attention students receive from their professors. Briar Cliff does well with financial aid, and the majority of students receive significant grant aid. Student life is active with dozens of student activities and organizations. In athletics, the Briar Cliff Chargers compete in the NAIA Great Plains Athletic Conference. The university fields nine men's and eight women's intercollegiate sports.
