Bethune-Cookman University Admissions Overview:

Students with good grades and high test scores have a decent shot of being admitted, especially those with extracurricular activities, strong writing skills, and work/volunteer experience. Bethune-Cookman does require scores from either the SAT or ACT as part of the application process--about half of the students applying submit scores from the ACT, and about half from the SAT. As part of the online application, students are asked to write a short essay about Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Bethune-Cookman University Description:

Bethune-Cookman University is an urban, private university affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The university ranks well nationally among historically Black colleges and universities. The 82-acre campus is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, less than two miles from the city's famous beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Students can choose from 35 majors from the university's seven academic schools. Professional fields -- business, marketing, nursing, and mass communications -- are most popular with undergraduates. In athletics, the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The university fields eight men's and nine women's sports. Popular sports include softball, track and field, football, cross country, and basketball.
