The University of Maryland at College Park is the flagship campus of the Maryland university system. Located just north of Washington, D.C., the University of Maryland is an easy Metro ride into the city. The proximity to D.C. has also benefited the school through a variety of research partnerships with the federal government. UMD has a strong Greek system, and about 10% of undergraduates belong to fraternities or sororities.
