University of Miami Description:
Chartered in 1925, the University of Miami is a fairly young university. Despite its name, the university is technically not in Miami, but in the well-to-do suburb of Coral Gables just south of the city. The University of Miami has a top-rated program in Marine Biology, and students flock to many of the business-related majors and nursing. Strengths in the liberal arts and sciences earned the school a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The university also gets high marks for the diversity of its student body. The Miami Hurricanes compete in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Coast Conference.
