McMurry University Description:

Founded in 1923, McMurry University is a four-year private United Methodist university in Abilene, Texas, a town that Money Magazine identified as one of the top 100 safest places to live in the United States. The university offers over 45 majors across its six schools: School of Arts and Letters, School of Business, School of Natural & Computational Sciences, School of Education, School of Nursing, and School of Social Sciences and Religion. Academics are supported by a student / faculty ratio of 13 to 1 and an average class size of 16. The university takes its service-centered missions seriously, and boast of 24,5000 hours of annual service. McMurry placed 15th in the U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges List for regional colleges in the west, and the school regularly ranks highly for its diversity. Students find plenty to do on McMurry's 52-acre campus with over 40 student clubs and organizations. Intramurals are popular, with over half the student body playing at least one intramural sport. For intercollegiate athletics,  the McMurry War Hawks compete in the NCAA Division II Heartland Conference.
