University of Lynchburg Description:

Founded in 1903, the University of Lynchburg is a private, four-year university affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The 214-acre campus is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, about 120 miles from Richmond and 180 miles from Washington, D.C. Randolph College and Liberty University are each within a few miles of campus. Lynchburg supports just under 3,000 students with a student / faculty ratio of 12 to 1. The college offers 39 undergraduate majors with 52 minors, as well as 13 pre-professional programs and many graduate programs. Students stay engaged outside of the classroom through participation in a host of student clubs and organizations such as the Paintball Club, a Gaming Society, and a Spades club. Lynchburg is also home to club and intramural teams including Texas Hold 'Em Tournaments, Whiffle Ball, and HALO Tournaments. As for intercollegiate athletics, the Lynchburg Hornets compete in the NCAA Division III Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with 9 men’s, 10 women’s, and 2 coed varsity sports.
