University of Mount Olive Description:

Founded in 1951, the University of Mount Olive (formerly Mount Olive College) is a private, four-year Christian college in Mount Olive, North Carolina, with additional locations in Goldsboro, Jacksonville, New Bern, Wilmington, Washington, and the Research Triangle Park. UMO's student body is made up of about 900 traditional students and 3,800 working adults. Professional programs in education, health management, business, and criminal justice are most popular, but students can choose from over 40 majors, including some online options. Academics are supported by a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio. The university is proud to be the sixth most affordable private college in North Carolina. UMO has a host of student clubs and organizations, as well as intramural sports. On the intercollegiate athletics front, the UMO trojans compete in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas with 9 men's and 9 women's sports. In 2008, the baseball team won the NCAA Division II National Championship. Popular sports include basketball, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, and track and field.
