St. Mary's University Description:

Founded in 1852, St. Mary's University is the oldest Catholic university in Texas. St. Mary’s is a private, 4-year Roman Catholic college located on 135 acres in San Antonio, Texas. It is one of only three Marianist (the Society of Mary) universities in the country (the other two are the University of Dayton and Chaminade University of Honolulu). U.S. News & World Report ranked the university seventh in the West region under the category of Best Value. St. Mary's offers 70 undergraduate and graduate majors as well as over 120 degree programs across the Greehey School of Business, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, and Graduate Studies. Academics are supported by a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Student life at St. Mary's is active with a variety of clubs, organizations, and intramural sports. On the intercollegiate front, the St. Mary's Rattlers compete in the NCAA Division II Heartland Conference. The university fields five men's and six women's intercollegiate sports.
