Roosevelt University Description:

Roosevelt University is a comprehensive private university with a main campus in Chicago's South Loop adjacent to Grant Park. The university also has a relatively new branch campus 30 miles northwest of the city in Schaumburg, Illinois. The university's rich history began in 1945 when the president and numerous faculty and staff members left the YMCA College in Chicago to create an institution that embodied their beliefs in peace and social justice. Today the university has grown to offer 116 degree programs supported by an 11 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Business fields are particularly popular among undergraduates. Roosevelt's new Wabash Building (completed in 2012) is one of the more impressive urban campus buildings in the country (it's the blue skyscraper pictured above). The top 17 floors are home to more than 600 students, and the building also has extensive classroom, dining, and recreation facilities. Roosevelt students have the city of Chicago at their fingertips, but the university also sponsors many student clubs and organizations including the student newspaper, The Torch, and WRBC The Blaze, the school's radio station. On the athletic front, the Roosevelt University Lakers compete in the NAIA Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Converence (CCAC). The school fields seven men's and seven women's intercollegiate sports.
