Queens University of Charlotte is a private, four-year, Presbyterian university in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has about 2,400 students supported by a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Queens has 35 majors and 16 graduate programs, and the school takes pride in its international study and internship programs. Professional fields such as nursing and business are particularly popular. The university offers numerous evening and continuing education options for working students, and the majority of graduate students attend part time. Student life is active with over 40 student clubs and organizations, a few sororities and fraternities, and a host of intramural sports. Queens is a member of the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas, and has recently opened a new sports complex with a statue of their mascot, Rex. At 15-feet tall, this statue of Rex is believed to be the largest standing lion statue in the world. For those who like adventure, Queens offers an Outdoor Education program with activities like skiing, hiking, and whitewater rafting.
