Piedmont College Description:

Located in Demorest, Georgia, Piedmont College was founded in 1897--originally known as the J.S. Green Collegiate Institute. It was renamed Piedmont College in the 1940s, and has continued to expand. There is an expansion campus located in Athens, Georgia. Demorest is about an hour and a half northeast of Atlanta; the city itself has a population of around 2,000. At Piedmont, students have a balance of a smaller setting with a bustling city nearby--the perfect blend of quiet and culture. The college is made up of four distinct schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Education. Popular majors include Nursing, Business Administration, Psychology, and Theatre. Outside of the classroom, students can participate in a number of extra-curricular activities. Academic clubs (Chemistry Club, Debate Team, Social Science Club), religious groups (Christian Athletes, Washington Gladden Society), and performing arts ensembles (Chorus, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble) are just a few ways students can get involved. On the athletic front, the Piedmont Lions compete in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), within Division III, in the USA South Athletic Conference.
