Northwest Missouri State University Description:

Founded in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is a public, four-year university with an average class size of 27 and a student / faculty ratio of 24 to 1. Its attractive 70-acre campus in Maryville, Missouri is the designated Missouri Arboretum and features over 130 tree species. Each of the 7,000 students at Northwest receives a laptop computer for school use. Northwest offers a total of 135 undergraduate and 36 master's programs over a variety of majors. Campus life is active, and Northwest has 150 student clubs and organizations, an active Greek life, and a lot of interesting intramurals, including Tug-O-War, Bean Bag Toss, and Rock, Paper, Scissors. When it comes to intercollegiate athletics, the Northwest Bearcats have a formidable reputation. They participate in the NCAA Division II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and have won national championships in football, cheerleading, and wrestling. The college has many traditions including "Walkout Day," “The Bell of 1948,” the “Hickory Stick,” and “The Stroller.”
