National Louis University Description:

Founded in 1886, National Louis University is a private non-profit institution with seven campuses in three states: Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, North Shore and Wheeling, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Tampa, Florida. The downtown Chicago campus occupies five floors of the Peoples Gas Building, a historic building with an enviable location across from the Art Institute of Chicago near the edge of Grant Park. The university is made up of two colleges, the National College of Education and the College of Professional Studies and Advancement. NLU has many options for working, non-traditional students, and a significant number of students are enrolled part-time and take advantage of online course options. The average age of undergraduate students is 34. The university offers 60 degree programs. Academics are supported by a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and the majority of classes have under 20 students. National Louis University is home to a handful of student organizations including the Association of Latino Scholars and the Multicultural Empowerment Organization. NLU students also get free admission to the Art Institute of Chicago. The university does not compete in any intercollegiate sports.
