Missouri Southern State University Description:

Missouri Southern State University is a public, four-year university located on 373 acres in Joplin, Missouri. MSSU supports a student body of about 5,500 with a student/faculty ratio of 18 to 1. The university offers almost 200 academic programs between the School of Business Administration, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, School of Health Sciences, Public Safety and Technology, and the graduate and online programs. Students stay busy outside of the classroom, and MSSU has a long list of student clubs and organizations as well as two sororities and three fraternities. At MSSU, non-varsity sports are extremely popular, and more than 1,000 students play intramurals like volleyball, soccer, and bowling. For intercollegiate athletics, the MSSU Lions compete in the NCAA Division II the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) with sports that include men’s golf, women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s track and field.
