Misericordia University Description:

Misericordia University is a private Catholic University located on a 123-acre campus in Dallas, Pennsylvania, just a few miles from both Scranton and Wilkes Barre in the northeastern corner of the state. Founded in 1924 by the Sisters of Mercy, the university grounds its educational experience in the tenets of mercy, service, justice and hospitality. Undergraduates can choose from 34 degree programs offered through the university's three academic colleges: Arts and Sciences, Professional Studies and Social Sciences, and Health Sciences. Medical and health fields are particularly popular, but the university offers a broad spectrum of majors in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional fields. Academics are supported by a healthy 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 19. Student life is active with 41 student clubs and organizations. On the athletic front, the Misericordia Cougars compete in the NCAA Division III MAC Freedom Conference. The university fields ten men's and eleven women's intercollegiate sports.
