Located in Bellevue, Nebraska, Bellevue University was founded in 1966, primarily as an educational option for working adults. Today, Bellevue has a high percentage of "non-traditional" students, and welcomes transfer students as well. The city of Bellevue, just south of Omaha, has a population of around 50,000. Bellevue University offers bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees, with fields in business, IT, and social sciences being among the most popular. The college has an impressively low tuition, and provides financial aid to over 80% of its students. Bellevue has a number of activities for students to join—including honor societies, academic groups, and extracurricular clubs. Athletically, the Bellevue Bruins compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In 2015, the teams moved from the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference to the North Star Athletic Association. Popular sports include golf, soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
