Question: My parents want to sign me up for a “quiet” residence hall. Is that a good idea?
Answer: Some colleges send out preference forms so that they can group together students who have similar interests or lifestyles. Don’t let your parents fill out the form for you. Your parents’ fantasy may be that you’ll sit quietly in your room studying all the time. If the reality is that you like to crank the stereo in the evening, you’ll be miserable in a “quiet” hall.
