Penn State Berks Description:

Founded in 1958, Penn State Berks is one of the Commonwealth Campuses of the Pennsylvania State University. The campus sits on the northwestern edge of Reading, Pennsylvania. Harrisburg and Philadelphia are each a little over an hour away. The Penn State curriculum allows students to begin their four-year degrees on one campus and finish on another. Penn State Berks offers 19 baccalaureate degrees with business being most popular. Academics are supported by a 17 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 24. The majority of students are from Pennsylvania, and roughly one-quarter of students live on campus. Students stay engaged outside of the classroom and can choose from over 50 clubs and organizations including the Ski & Board Club, Pep Band, High Fashion Club, and Step Team. The college also offers several club sports such as bowling, equestrian, and rugby. On the intercollegiate front, the Penn State Berks Nittany Lions compete in the NCAA Division III North Eastern Athletic Conference. The college fields six men's and six women's varsity teams with baseball, soccer, and softball among the most popular.
