University of Jamestown Description:

Jamestown College (as it was known until 2013) was founded in the early 20th century. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, the University of Jamestown is located in Jamestown, North Dakota. The city has a population of around 15,000, and is just south-east of the center of the state. The school offers your typical range of majors/degrees--some of the most popular majors include Nursing, Education, and Business fields. Also available are some graduate degrees: a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Master of Education, and Master of Arts in Leadership. U of J has a strong performing arts program, and its choir is well-known, and travels internationally. Because of its religious tradition, the school offers weekly church services, opportunities for students to participate in service projects, and to take part in Bible studies and other religious events/activities. Outside of the classroom, students can join student-run clubs and groups--including (but certainly not limited to) academic clubs, honors societies, student senate, and performing arts groups. Students are encouraged to create a club they are interested in, if one does not already exist. Athletically, the University of Jamestown "Jimmies" compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in the North Star Athletics Association. Popular sports include basketball, cross country, football, soccer, and wrestling.
