Sitting Bull College Description:

Sitting Bull College was founded in 1973; it was originally known as Standing Rock Community College. It later became accredited as a 4-year school, and was renamed Sitting Bull College in 1996. It is affiliated with Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council, and largely serves Native American students. The college is located in Fort Yates, North Dakota. Fort Yates is in the southern part of the state, about 60 miles south of Bismarck. Academically, the school offers programs at the Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's levels. Popular programs include Environmental Science, Business Administration, Nursing, Education, and General Studies. Academics are supported by a healthy 7 to 1 student / faculty. Outside of the classroom, students at Sitting Bull can join a number of on-campus clubs and activities, including: student government, anime club, ecology club, teacher club, and the American Indian Business Leaders.
