The Gulf South Conference competes in the NCAA Division II and fields seven men's and seven women's sports. The members represent a range of institution types from public universities to private universities with religious affiliations. The conference has gone through significant changes in recent years, and in 2012 Union University and Shorter University will join the GSC. The conference headquarters are in Birmingham, Alabama.

Christian Brothers University
Christian Brothers University has an impressive 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 14. The school is Catholic but open to all -- just 20% of students are Catholic.
