Important Notice

As of May 17th, 2018, Mount Ida College has ceased operations and is closed for business. The college was forced to shut down for financial reasons. The campus has been taken over by UMass Amherst and will become the "Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst."

Mount Ida College Description:

Founded in 1899, Mount Ida College is a small private college with career-focused programs grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. The suburban campus is located in Newton, Massachusetts, just 10 miles from downtown Boston. The campus has seen many recent upgrades and expansions including a new campus center and fitness center. Students can choose from 24 baccalaureate programs offered by the college's four schools: the School of Applied Sciences, School of Business, School of Design, and School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Business Administration and Veterinary Technology are the most popular majors. Academics are supported by a 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio. The college takes pride in the individualized attention students receive to promote both their academic and career success. The college emphasizes practical, career-centered, hands-on learning experiences. Many faculty members have real-world professional experience, and students are encouraged to participate in practicums and internships. Campus life is active, and Mount Ida students can choose from a range of student clubs, organizations, honor societies, and intramural sports. On the intercollegiate front, the Mount Ida Mustangs compete in the NCAA Division III Great Northeast Athletic Conference for most sports. The college fields 16 intercollegiate sports including football, equestrian, basketball and cross-country.
