Roanoke College is a private liberal arts college located in Salem, Virginia. Admissions are not distressingly selective, and most hard-working students with solid grades and standardized test scores have a good chance at receiving an acceptance letter. About 70% of applicants are admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of successful applicants had high school GPAs of "B" or better, combined SAT scores of about 1450 or higher (CR+M+W), and ACT composite scores of 20 or better.
You'll notice, however, that some students with grades and test scores a little below the norm were accepted, and a few students who seemed to be on target for Roanoke did not get in. This is because Roanoke College has holistic admissions. Test scores and grades are most important, but other factors can also come into play. Along with challenging high school courses, the admissions officers may look for interesting extracurricular activities and positive letters of recommendation.
