Cal Maritime, the California Maritime Academy, accepts about three-quarters of all applicants. The academy is the smallest and most specialized of the 23 schools in the California State University System, so the graph above has less data than those for the other Cal State campuses. Nevertheless, the graph can give you a sense of typical grades and scores for Cal Maritime. The green and blue dots represent accepted students. The majority of successful applicants had a "B" average or higher, SAT scores (CR+M+W) of 1300 or higher, and ACT scores of 19 or higher. A few students with lower grades and scores also got in.
Note that grades and test scores are particularly important for Cal Maritime. Unlike the University of California System, the California State University admission process is not holistic. Except for EOP students, applicants do not need to submit letters of recommendation or an application essay, and extracurricular involvement is not part of the standard application..
