AP Scores Now Available!

By , About.com GuideJuly 1, 2012

Follow me on:

If you took an AP exam this spring, scores are now available by phone. A little later in July you, your high school, and any designated colleges will receive your scores by mail. But if you can't wait a few days, you can take advantage of the College Board's AP Automated Score Reporting Services. As far as college admissions go, getting your scores a few days early makes no difference. But if you're losing sleep wondering whether you got a 4 or 5 on that AP History exam, it may be worth the $8 to get the score over the phone.

To get your scores today, you'll need to call 1-888-308-0013 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-609-771-7366 (non U.S. or Canada). Make sure you have the information you'll need to access your account:

  • Your AP number from your AP Student Pack
  • Your Social Security Number if applicable
  • Your birth date
  • Your exam year
  • The four-digit college codes if you're planning to send the scores to schools
  • A credit card for paying the $8 fee and any score report fees

Once you get your score, these articles can help you understand what the number means as far as course credit and course placement are concerned: Overview | Biology | Calculus AB | Calculus BC | Chemistry | English Language | English Literature | European History | Physics B | Psychology | Spanish Language | Statistics | U.S. Government | U.S. History | World History

I just called, and got all the way after entering all of my info (ap number etc) then it said “your information has been located” but “your scores are currently unavailable, please call back in. A week”.

(9) Daniel says:

I just called and got the exact same response as jle did. “Your scores are currently unavailable, please allow one week before calling again.” I thought they said scores were available july 1st?

(10) ajd says:

July 1, 2012 at 7:49 am
(11) luke says:

Same here… said located information, but scores not available. It said to wait 7 days before calling back again.

Why did they bother saying they’d be ready July 1st?

(13) Donald says:

Before getting my scores, the automated message told me that some scores were unavailable. I decided to find out my scores anyway, even if I did have to pay again. The scores that were unavailable were for Calculus BC (and the AB subscore). Anyone else run into this?

(14) Tom says:

Called several times between 11 am EST and 1 pm EST and each time it said “could not locate records”. Maybe the big storm on Friday night interfered with the College Board database somehow??

(18) Luthfi says:

If you tried to ring the international number one it will be always busy. That what happened to me yesterday night. Try to ring the US and Canada one. That would do the trick. It worked for me in the UK.

(19) ajd says:

Hey guys, thought you might want to know that i called ap services after receiving the message. turns out all my scores were actually in, regardless of what the recording said on the machine. however, the machine will say “unavailable” when it gets to the score that wasn’t “in.”

if you do pay though, and call ap services after to complain, and tell them you already paid–all the while managing to pass a battery of tests like home address and high school name, and all the tests you took–you can call back ap services and get them to tell you the score that was missing. in this way, i got all my scores! however, i would call ap services to be sure that they are all actually in before paying.

the number: 1-888-225-5427, dial 0 on the menu.

(20) Julia says:

it says my scores cannot be located and that i typed something in wrong but i know i typed it in right… and then it connects me to a service representative and their office is closed today apparently…. did my scores get lost because they could not be “located?”

Julia and Max–Now that the holiday is over, have you had luck reaching a service representative to find out what went wrong?

(23) Shiloh says:

So, is there a way for me to retrieve my scores without my AP number?

July 6, 2012 at 11:30 pm
(24) Allen Grove says:

Hi Shiloh. You should be able to retrieve the number if you call the College Board. Here’s what the AP website says: “If you misplaced your AP number or are unsure about any information you provided on your answer sheet, call AP Services first at 888-225-5427 or 609-771-7300″ Good luck!
