The Sierra Club just released their 2009 ranking of "cool schools" -- colleges and universities that are doing the most to help the planet. Schools were judged in a range of areas such as waste management, food usage, energy efficiency, and academic foci. It's a study that wouldn't have generated much interest a generation ago, but today two-thirds of college applicants say that a school's environmental stewardship could influence their enrollment decision.
Only six colleges and universities earned the top grade of an "A+": the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Washington at Seattle, Middlebury College, the University of Vermont, the College of the Atlantic, and Evergreen State College.
