The University of Puget Sound

Academically, Puget Sound has many strengths, and the school frequently ranks among the top 100 liberal arts colleges in the country. The university has selective admissions, and its strong liberal arts and sciences have earned it a chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
The University of Puget Sound is a private college with a hefty total price tag, but the school does well with financial aid. Over 80% of students receive grant aid from the university.
Every week I spotlight a great college that might be off the radar of college applicants. If you'd like to recommend a school for a future spotlight, please do so here in the College Admissions forum. And if you're familiar with the University of Puget Sound, please share your impressions below.

Disclosure: I am involved at University of Puget Sound. Nonetheless, I hear from many students and alumni, and it’s clear from those I speak to that they not only enjoy the experience, but that what they learn takes them a long way in the world – in many respects.
Great school. What makes it stand apart is the style of the kids – they are nice, serious about their studies, and on the responsible side. Not too wild or spoiled. It’s a really mellow, excellent place to go to school.
As an alum (2001), I can’t say enough about UPS. I had a great 4 years there and look back on them very fondly. With my financial aid, it was as affordable as a state school for me and gave me a MUCH better education that allowed me to explore many different interests. Happy to see UPS get its rightful place in the spotlight. I highly recommend it for students who expect more from their educational experience than auditorium lecture halls.
I am a recent graduate and loved my experience at Puget Sound. It has something to offer for all students seeking an education in a focused and tight knit community. The liberal arts focus allows students to have a broad base of knowledge upon graduation, and the faculty take personal interest in your long term success.
Puget Sound was a great place to spend four years. After graduating in 2005 I moved to California and then Colorado to pursue graduate studies. I can honestly say that the quality of the eduation and the individuals I was surrounded with at UPS has not been matched. During my time in Graduate school I was amazed at how well I was prepared for the challenging courseloads and competition with other students. I found myself having a much easier time meeting the demands than most of my peers who had attended Ivy or little Ivy’s out East. Puget Sound is a complete package and I am proud to be a Logger.
