AP Classes - Why They Matter

If your high school offers Advanced Placement courses, it's usually to your advantage to take them. If you do well in AP classes and on AP exams, the benefits are many:

• You'll impress college admissions counselors because you've taken challenging courses.
• You will have tackled college-level work, so you will have developed college study skills.
• You might save money if you are able to graduate early.
• You will be more familiar with some college academic fields, so you might be able to choose a major sooner.
• You may place out of some college classes and free up your schedule to take more elective courses or do a double major.
