This Saturday the number one ranked University of Connecticut will hit the court to take on number three University of Pittsburgh. Both are large public universities of around 17,000 undergraduates. Admission to these well known universities isn't easy. Check out the stats below and click on the profiles to learn what it takes to get accepted.

UConn:

  • Percentage of applicants accepted: 49.4%
  • Middle 50% SAT Math: 560 / 660
  • Middle 50% SAT Reading: 530 / 630
  • Middle 50% ACT Composite: 23 / 28
  • Total Cost (In-State): $20,654
  • Total Cost (Out-of-State): $34,598
Pitt:
  • Percentage of applicants accepted: 55.8%
  • Middle 50% SAT Math: 570 / 660
  • Middle 50% SAT Reading: 560 / 660
  • Middle 50% ACT Composite: 24 / 29
  • Total Cost (In-State): $24,936
  • Total Cost (Out-of-State): $34,446
Both universities are members of the competitive Big East Conference. Both have chapters of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Both have selective admissions standards, and both represent a similar educational value. For in-state applicants, Pitt is a little more expensive, but applicants can also expect slightly better financial aid. I'd say it's a close match-up.
