Today's spotlight takes us to Terre Haute, Indiana, where we find Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Most of the country's top engineering programs at places like M.I.T., Stanford and Caltech tend to enroll at least as many graduate students as undergrads, and both research dollars and the attention of professors tend to be directed towards grad students. Rose-Hulman is one of the rare exceptions. With an average class size of 20, a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and an almost exclusively undergraduate focus, Rose-Hulman is a great choice for the student who wants a more personal engineering education.

For ten years running, U. S. News & World Report has ranked Rose-Hulman #1 for engineering programs where the highest degree offered is a Bachelor's or Master's. Be sure to check out their new multidisciplinary robotics certificate program -- it's the type of curricular innovation that has earned Rose-Hulman its reputation.

If you'd like to learn more about Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, be sure to check out the Rose-Hulman profile and visit the official RHIT website. If you're familiar with the Rose-Hulman, please share your impressions in the RHIT discussion thread in the College Admissions Forum.

Every week I spotlight a great college that might be off the radar of college applicants. If you'd like to recommend a school for a future spotlight, please do so here in the forum.
