Spotlight on the University of Montevallo

Friday June 20, 2008
Palmer Hall at the University of MontevalloState universities don't always have 40,000 students, NCAA Division I football teams and classrooms where you need binoculars to see the professor. Today's spotlight shines on the University of Montevallo, a rare gem of a public university that has the feel of a small private liberal arts college. Located 25 miles south of Birmingham, Alabama, Montevallo has the beautiful historic buildings and student-faculty interactions that typically come with colleges costing three times as much. With tuition at $5,794 for in-state students and $11,254 for out-of-state, the school is a true value. Even room and board, at $4,360, is half what most colleges charge. Check out the Montevallo profile for more details.

Thanks to "Juliana27" for recommending Montevallo in the College Admissions Forum. If you'd like to recommend a school for a future About.com spotlight, you can do it here. And you can also use the forum to share your impressions of the University of Montevallo.
