March SAT Scores Now Available. What Do The Numbers Mean?

Tuesday March 25, 2008
SAT ScoresCollegeBoard recently made the scores for the March 1st SAT available online, and they will begin mailing paper scores on March 28th. The highest possible score on any section is an 800, and an average score is around 500. The majority of students accepted at top colleges and universities have scores in the high 600s or 700s. If you're wondering if your scores are good enough to get into the school of your dreams, check out this article on SAT scores.

If you're disappointed by your scores, you can always beef up your test-taking skills and take the SAT again. Although colleges will see all your scores, they generally count only your highest scores. And keep in mind that SAT scores are only part of an application, and not all schools weight them heavily. A strong essay and high school transcript can help make up for SAT scores that are on the low side of the spectrum.
